October 12, 2020

Today was the first appointment with the oncologist. The doctor was quite thorough and spent a lot of time explaining the diagnosis and answering all of our questions. His recommendation for treatment is 12 sessions of chemotherapy, spaced 2 weeks apart. I cannot start any treatment until I am fully recovered from the initial surgery, and the wound pump has been removed. In a week or so I will go in for a PET scan to determine if the cancer has spread to any other areas of the body. The initial CT scan showed a spot on my liver, but the surgeon did not see anything concerning during the surgery. However, the PET scan will provide clearer, more definitive information. We may also get a second opinion before finalizing the course for treatment.

For today my prayer request is a clear PET scan, and a speedy recovery so I can get rid of this wound pump. I am feeling stronger every day, and my sleep and appetite are slowly improving. I remain grateful for my village!
